Crucify The Flesh

CRUCIFY THE FLESH

As long as there is an area in your life where you are yielding to the lusts of your flesh, you will experience four major limitations that will prevent you from accessing God’s blessings:

  1. You will be unable to please God.
  2. You will reap corruption.
  3. You will be bound, unable to do the things you would do.
  4. You will be hindered from taking hold of God’s promises.

During the next few days, we will meditate on strategies that will demolish the walls of the carnal flesh and the tongue. Romans 13:11-14

Strategy One: Don’t make allowances for your flesh — crucify it. This is the first strategy you must follow to break through the barrier of the carnal flesh and bring your tongue under the submission of the Holy Spirit. Paul said:

And those who belong to Christ Jesus, the Messiah, have crucified the flesh — the Godless human nature — with its passions and appetites and desires. (Galatians 5:24, TAB)

The Apostle Paul didn’t say we are to pamper our flesh. He didn’t say we should make excuses or allowances for the flesh. He said we should crucify it! God doesn’t want you to pacify your flesh all by yielding to your carnal, selfish desires and lusts. He expects you to crucify these things and to put them to death.

Peter said, “…abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul” (1 Peter 2:11). Paul told the Romans, “But clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah, and make no provision for (indulging) the flesh — put a stop to thinking about the evil cravings of your physical nature — to (gratify its) desires (lusts)” (Romans 13:14 TAB).

You must abstain from the lusts of the flesh and make no provisions for it. Nowhere in the Scriptures can we find one place where we are ever told to make allowances for our flesh.

Christ has set you free from the power of sin. He has given you power through the Holy Spirit, Who lives within you, to crucify the lusts of the flesh and walk in the Spirit. You don’t ever have to be overcome by temptations of the carnal flesh. Christ paid the supreme sacrifice of laying down His own life so that you can live in one-hundred percent victory over your flesh. You owe a debt, so crucify your flesh!

Make this declaration:

I will make no allowances for my flesh today. The flesh is crucified.
