REKINDLING THE FEAR

REKINDLING THE FEAR

The fear of God has gone out of His house. There are approximately four hundred references in the Bible concerning the fear of God, yet how many pastors, teachers, and evangelists are there today who are teaching and warning people to live their lives in the fear of God? How many sermons do you hear from holy men of God concerning the wrath and judgment of God that is coming upon the earth? Not very many. Isaiah 6:1-13

Do you want to know why? Because people don’t want to hear it. They don’t want to hear about crucifying the flesh, self-denial, or holiness. When they hear preaching under the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit that exposes the disobedience and sin in their lives, they say the person is preaching legalism or condemnation upon them.

They would rather hear how to be successful and prosperous and enjoy the blessings of God. They would rather hear something that would allow them to live their lives following after their own wills, living their lives to please their selfish desires, fulfilling the lusts of their flesh.

There are many Christians today who are walking in disobedience to God and His Word. The fear of God is missing. They are afraid to live their lives according to what God has revealed to them in the Word because they fear what other people will think of them. They are afraid people will think they are foolish or fanatic.

There are Christians to whom God has spoken to step out into some area of ministry, but they have rebelled and are walking in disobedience because they are afraid of what their friends or family will say.

When God speaks to you — regardless of how insignificant it may seem, regardless of how foolish it may sound, regardless of the consequences and how impossible it may seem — do it in the fear of the Lord.

Because the nation of Israel did not have a heart that feared God, they disobeyed and forfeited their inheritance. They were defeated and destroyed. God’s people today need to rekindle the fear of God in their hearts.

We need to have a fresh revelation of God in all His holiness as Isaiah did when he fell on his face before God and said, “Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips” (Isaiah 6:5). Once we see Him in the beauty and greatness of His holiness, the fear of God will be rekindled in our hearts, motivating us to walk in love and one-hundred percent obedience to Him all the days of our lives.

Make this declaration:

When God speaks to me — regardless of how insignificant it may seem, regardless of how foolish it may sound, regardless of the consequences and how impossible it may seem — I will do it in the fear of the Lord.
