The Treasures Of Your Heart

THE TREASURES OF YOUR HEART

What is in a man’s heart and mind determines his actions and the words coming out of his mouth? If an individual’s heart and mind are filled with negative thoughts — hatred, anger, jealousy, fear, worry, pride, bitterness, and strife — that is exactly what will come out of his mouth. If his heart and mind are filled continually with carnal thoughts and lusts of the flesh, it will be manifested in the words coming out of his mouth, the treasures of your heart. Matthew 12:33-37

On the other hand, if an individual’s heart and mind are filled with positive thoughts — faith, love, joy, peace — that is what will be coming out of his mouth. If his heart and mind are filled with God’s Word, his heart is centered on God and fulfilling His will, then faith-filled words and praise will be coming out of his mouth.

Even though an individual claim to be a Christian and has an outward appearance of righteousness, if his heart and mind are not pure, the words coming out of his mouth will not be pure. Out of his mouth will come both blessing and cursing.

A heart and mind that are corrupted by jealousy, anger, pride, and bitterness cannot produce the fruit of good, wholesome words. The heart and mind must first be cleansed and renewed by the Holy Spirit. The good treasure stored up in a believer’s heart and mind is the all-powerful, living, and written Word of God. Jesus said, “..the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). When our hearts and minds are saturated with the Word and the living and written Word are renewing our hearts and minds, we will speak forth pure, powerful faith-filled words that are spirit and life!

On the other hand, the evil treasure of a man’s heart is lust, carnal desires, greed, jealousy, pride, and bitterness. As long as this evil treasure remains within him he will bring forth evil things.

You are the one who determines what will come out of your mouth — whether you will bring good out of the good treasure of your heart or whether you will bring evil out of the evil treasure of your heart.

Make this declaration:

My heart is filled with faith, love, joy, peace — and that is what will come out of my mouth. My heart and mind are filled with God’s Word, my heart is centered on God and His will — so faith-filled words and praise will come out of my mouth.
