TO DO GREAT THINGS BUILD GREAT TEAMS
” And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.” Genesis 11:6
Your success as a leader relies heavily on the quality of team (s) you can build and put to work. It is one thing to bring people together and give them work to do, and another completely different thing to make them work as a team.
As a Pastor, work on transforming every department into effective performance teams. And work on the team that will lead the teams. And If you are not a pastor, see how you can apply this principle to your own work. This is the only way to ensure success in your work
Lets break our opening scripture down:
- The people is one they are united. They are a team.
Are your people one? Have you made a team out of your group?
Ecclesiastes 4:9, “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.”
Teams are better than individuals.
It takes deliberate effort to harness the potential of each and every person in the team and utilize it to reap the maximum benefits.
You’ve got to be intentional in your approach.
You’ve got to make the people one. Teams don’t make themselves, Leaders make them . And teamwork doesn’t work unless the leader works.
- They have all one language they speak the same things the same way. They have amalgamated their ideas.
Have your people moved from “i” to “we. “? Do they speak the same language?
It is your work to give them a language. And to make them move from “i” to “We.”
- And this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them God testifies that people who work as a team are unstoppable. It doesn’t matter how small they start, they will end up big and doing big things.
These guys didn’t just talk and talk, they started working. It is only those who act who win in life.
Transform your department/group/church into a team. Plan your work and work your plan. Nothing works without work.
- Which they have imagined to do it is not the imagination of an individual, but the imagination of a team that will drive everyone involved to action. A team must have a common vision.
If you are the only one who is seeing what you are seeing, it doesn’t matter what you are saying, it will be restrained from you. Deliberately sale your vision, not once, not twice, everyday. It is as we look that we are changed into the same image, the scripture doesn’t say “when we behold” it says “beholding” : “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 3:18).
CLOSING STATEMENT
A team is a number of people with complementary skills/abilities/talents committed to the same purpose, vision, performance goals, and approach for which they hold themselves mutually accountable. Unless you build a team to accomplish the objectives of your ministry, you are doing nothing.
