Mark 6:1-6

At Kadesh-Barnea God directed Israel to go in and take possession of the land, but when ten of the twelve spies spying out the land gave an evil report the peoples’ hearts were filled with fear and unbelief:

Their unbelief led to rebellion against God. Unbelief turned their hearts away from Him. They forgot His promises and rejected His Word. As a result of their unbelief, they were defeated. This entire generation of unbelievers wandered in the wilderness for 40 years where they died. Not one of them entered the Promised Land. LIMITED BY UNBELIEF

Just as unbelief shut that generation out of the Promised Land, it will shut you out and keep you from taking possession of the promises God has given you. Unbelief shuts off the supernatural life flow of God. One of the saddest examples, in the Word, of people shut off from experiencing the mighty manifestation of God’s miracle power through Jesus is found in the Gospel of Mark: “And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marveled because of their unbelief” (Mark 6:5-6). LIMITED BY UNBELIEF

In Nazareth, where Jesus lived and grew up, He could not do any mighty miracles among the people as He had in other cities throughout Galilee. In Capernaum there was such a powerful manifestation of God’s miracle power flowing through Jesus in healing the sick and casting out devils that the entire city gathered together outside the door of the house where He was staying:

And all the city was gathered together at the door. And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. (Mark 1:33-34)

A great multitude from Galilee, Judea, Jerusalem beyond Jordan and Tyre and Sidon followed after Him to be healed:

For he had healed many; insomuch that they had pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues. And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God. (Mark 3:10-11)

He had healed a paralyzed man. He healed a leper. He cast out a legion of demons from the demon possessed man of Gadara. He healed the woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years and raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead. Yet, when Jesus came to Nazareth He could not do any mighty miracles. It was not because His power was limited. His power had not changed. He did not withhold His power from the people because of any unwillingness on His part. The only thing that limited Him was their unbelief.
