THE AN UNLIMITED GOD
2 Chronicles 20:8-12
Today let’s look at the next portion of Jehoshaphat’s prayer. He said, “Rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?” (verse 6).
Jehoshaphat exclaims, “You are a God of Power,” but when he speaks of power in this context, he is not referring to something ancient, but to an active, moving, living, available, vital power. Not a latent power that just has potential, but a power that is moving and has a proven record of performance.
The God we serve is an unlimited God! Go back and repeat that phrase. Say it over and over again until its mighty truth fills your being. Our God knows no limit. THE AN UNLIMITED GOD
Jehoshaphat knew that God was able to open the Red Sea to let the children of Israel pass through. The same God fed the entire nation of Israel in the wilderness for forty years. He is the God that could send down fire from heaven. He is the God that could cause an axe head to swim and a donkey to talk. The false prophets could not withstand His power. God’s fire consumed the offering and the altar of Elijah.
The lion could not withstand the power of God and Samson conquered it. The Philistines could not withstand His power and Jonathan and his armour-bearer put them to flight. It was His power that shielded Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace that was heated seven times hotter than normal. It was His power that gave the lions lockjaw when the Prophet Daniel spent the night in their den. THE AN UNLIMITED GOD
Sickness could not withstand His power as Jesus of Nazareth went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil. He said to the blind, “See,” and the dark scales fell from their eyes. He said to the deaf, “Hear,” and the sensation of sound began to register in their brains. He declared to the mute, “Speak,” and those paralyzed tongues were released by the power of God and began to function. THE AN UNLIMITED GOD
The natural elements could not oppose the power of Jesus. When He spoke to them to be calm, they stopped their tempest without putting up a further argument. The devil could not withstand His power as He spoke to the demon-possessed and said, “Come out,” and immediately they were set free. Jehoshaphat is saying, “God, I know You can do it. God I know You will do it. You will deliver Your people!” THE AN UNLIMITED GOD
You can make a similar declaration: “God, You will heal me from this cancer. You will deliver me from this rheumatoid arthritis. You will deliver my son from the bondage of drugs. You will bring my wayward, backslidden daughter back home again. You will save my mate and unite our family once again.”
